I read that it is good to eat right after weight training, but I don’t want to use protein shakes. What foods should I be eating? Also, what should I eat before weight lifting?

My goal is trying to bulk up.

the main thing to do is focus on your overall diet. So some good foods would be

Eggs
Rice
Potatoes
Green tea
Salmon
Milk
Pasta
turkey

Eat 5-7 times a day and always an hour before. One thing to focus on is your protein intake after your work out, as you will need to replace that

Peanut butter and jelly/jam sandwiches in brown bread are great for that.

For a good view on how to do this read the metabolism and training

I’m trying to figure out what other foods besides peppers can create a spicy or hot tasting dish. If there are other hot spices, where do they come from and how are they made?

Mustard seed.
Horse radish root.
Wasabi.
Cloves.
Cinnamon oil.
Raw onions.

My boyfriend and I are trying to have another baby but we have been unsucceful for the last 2 years. I know that folic acid and vitamins B12 are good for female reproductive health, but what are some supplements or foods that he could take to improve our chances?

L- arginine is great for both male and female. It is best known as a sexual inhancer, but if you go to a search engine and put in
L-arginine and fertility or sperm count -you should get information. We used it and have a healthy one year old.

We want to keep them healthy and bought Iams for kittens but then I found out what was in it. I have heard of some of the great natural brands but my boyfriend doesn’t want to spend 30 plus dollars
on food. Is the meow mix a decent alternative or is there another less expensive alternative? Thanks

I would rather you feed canned with junk then better dry foods

Nutrition since there are so many bad things out there is very important to your cat’s health
Contrary to what you may have heard; dry foods are not a great thing to feed a cat.
Please read the label on what you are feeding? What are the ingredients? Do you know what they mean? Is the first ingredient a muscle meat like chicken or meal or other things?

Dry foods are the number 1 cause of diabetes in cats as well as being a huge contributing factor to kidney disease, obesity, crystals, u.t.i’s, constipation, and a host of other problems. Male cats are especially prone to blockages
from dry food. Food allergies are very common when feeding dry foods. Rashes, scabs behind the tail and on the chin are all symptoms The problems associated with Dry food is that they are loaded with grains and carbohydrates which many cats (carnivores) cannot process. ( Have a fat cat?)
An even bigger problem is that it IS dry and it dehydrates no matter how much your cat drinks
Most of the moisture a cat needs is suppose to be in the food. Cats are not naturally big drinkers.
95% of the moisture is zapped out of dry foods in the processing. Think about it.
Another thing, most use horrible ingredients and don’t use a muscle meat as the primary ingredient and use vegetable based protein versus animal. Not good for an animal that has to eat meat to survive.

You want to pick a canned food w/o gravy (gravy=carbs) that uses a muscle meat as the first ingredient and doesn’t have corn at least in the first 3 ingredients if at all.
THE BEST CAT FOODS CONTAIN NO GRAINS NO BYPRODUCTS
Cats are meat eaters not cereal or rice eaters
Fancy feast is a middle grade food with 9lives, friskies whiskas lower grade canned and wellness and merrick upper grade human quality foods. I would rather feed a middle grade canned food then the top of the line dry food.
Also, dry food is not proven to be better for teeth. Does a hard pretzel clean your teeth or do pieces of it get stuck? http://www.felinefuture.com/nutrition/bpo_ch4a.php

Please read about cat nutrition.

Vetinarian diets The reason your vet thinks so highly of the pet food they sell probably has more to do with money than nutrition. In vet school, the only classes offered on nutrition usually last a few weeks, and are taught by representatives from the pet food companies. Vet students may also receive free food for their own dogs and cats at home. They could get an Iams notebook, a Purina purse and some free pizza. http://iml.jou.ufl.edu/projects/Spring04/Perhach/PetFood/Vets.htm

Just thought id ask. Not sure what foods are considered natural. would tortilla chips be ALL natural? Would meats be Natural? Im so confused. If anyone has any suggestions or a website that could help, please let me know. if you have experienced weight loss by eating all natural please tell your story. Thanks :)

ABsolutely yes, as long as you don’t eat too much!

Most Processed foods are a big cause of ppl’s weight issues. Some are good, but most arnt. Processed foods are basically: Anything that comes in can or a box. If it has ingredients listed – it’s processed. Be critical about the ingredients.

Now, an easy way to tell good from bad is to look at the ingredients first! If you see the words "Hydrogenated, Modified, Sugar, or High Fructose" in the first 3 (or better 5) ingredients – it’s a food that feeds fat more then it feeds you. Don’t buy it. This includes drinks too!

Sounds easy, but it’s pretty challenging at first. Almost like trying to find clothes not made in China it seems.

Also, eating is only part of your weight problem. You need to MOVE more too! Dieting is foolish and pointless without exersize. You need to increase your metabolism. Workouts do this, and more lean muscle will keep it high. Less food, and you’ll have less energy to create the lean muscle you need. Get it? One without the other…dumb dumb dumb.,

Foods, natural supplements, vitamins..etc

im currently eating a ‘whole foods’ diet consisting of fruits, vegetable, whole weat pasta, extra virgin olive oil (cooking),lean chicken, natural peanut butter, fish, oatmeal, honey, raisins…u get the idea. im trying to lose weight, is there some whole foods to stay away from like bananas or the peanut butter..if so what should i mainly be eating?
iv counted calories, im 230lbs and exercise a lot and tried to lose eating anywhere from 1500-2500 it worked for a while but my body got use to it.

All natural granola, granola bars, and cookies are very calorically dense, and yogurt can be too. Basically everything that’s unhealthy when its unnatural is unhealthy when its natural, and same with what’s healthy. There aren’t really any special rules on that one, weight loss is the simple biology of calories in and calories out.

I suspect that I have might a parasite in me. I was wondering if there are any natural foods or herbs that I can take to help flush it out or kill it.

No. And even if there were, you should not self treat on the basis of "suspecting". If you think you have a parasite, you should see your doctor as soon as possible for testing and to find out if you symptoms may have some other cause.

I’m trying to find all natural (which is what I call organic) healthy cat food and dog food. However cat food is my main concern. There have been many food recalls due to poisoning and I don’t trust feeding my animals anything with asian products in (ANY). I’m looking to see if there are ANY all natural animal foods made in north america or in australia. I’ve bought a brand of animal food from the vet and my animals won’t touch it, and as I trust their response to food, I feel there must be something wrong with it. I also tried an all natural animal food but some of my animals got sick and so I stopped buying that food. I’m looking for a lesser known brand because obviously as we’ve seen the big brand names are the ones that have the issues. If anyone else does not agree with my views I’d rather not be critiqued, and it’s fine if you feel differently. I greatly appreciate any comment. My cats eat so much (as I have quite a few) that I can’t make my own food but I might for my dog.

I feed my cats raw rabbit, bones, hair and all. You can’t get much more natural and organic than that, and it’s cheap, too. Even cheaper if you buy a shotgun.

Can some one guide me or list-up maximum name of natural foods available in Indian subcontinent that helps lower blood sugar for type two diabetics!…

Hi,

Fruits like lemon, papaya, watermelon, melons, peaches, apples, guavas, apricots, corn kernels and kiwi are naturally low in sugar. It is best to avoid fruit juices which have added sugar and fruits like bananas, grapes, mangoes, dates and plums which have a very high sugar content.

Thanks,
